Hi, I’m Michael Cove.

I am an applied conservation ecologist and mammalogist. My research approach uses traditional methods and museum collections, as well as current noninvasive survey techniques and statistical modeling procedures, to study population and community ecology both locally and internationally. My research interests are mainly focused on the conservation of mammal communities, but also mesopredator release and trophic cascades, the urban/suburban wildlife interface, species invasions, disease ecology and animal microbiomes, and human dimensions of conservation and sustainable development in the tropics.

 As a broadly trained ecologist

I utilize traditional methods as well as current noninvasive survey techniques and statistical modeling procedures to study animal population and community responses to global changes. My research tends to be largely applied and generally falls within the following three categories:

Mammal community conservation

Urban and suburban
wildlife

Species
Interactions
